President and Chief Executive Officer
As President and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming Corporation, Keith Smith leads one of the nation’s largest and most respected casino entertainment companies.

An industry veteran with nearly 30 years of gaming experience, Smith first joined Boyd Gaming Corporation as Corporate Controller in 1990. He was promoted to Executive Vice President of Operations in 1998, Chief Operating Officer in 2001 and President in 2005. In January 2008, Smith was named Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming. Smith has also been a member of the Company’s Board of Directors since April 2005.

As CEO, Smith successfully navigated Boyd Gaming through the financial crisis and its aftermath before leading the Company through a period of rapid growth and diversification.During this period, Smith significantly strengthened the Company’s balance sheet and positioned the Company for growth through successful acquisitions.

Smith spearheaded Boyd Gaming’s acquisition of the IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi, Mississippi in 2011, followed by the $1.5 billion purchase of Peninsula Gaming in late 2012. These acquisitions increased Boyd Gaming’s size by more than a third, adding six properties while expanding the Company’s footprint into two new states, Iowa and Kansas.

Under Smith’s direction, Boyd Gaming successfully launched an industry leading real-money online gaming operation in New Jersey in late 2013. Operating under the Company’s Borgata brand, this gaming site has led the New Jersey market since its launch and has positioned the Company to be a leader in online gaming in the United States.

Smith currently serves as Chairman of the Los Angeles Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. He also served as Chairman of the American Gaming Association from 2010-2011 and Chairman of the Nevada Resort Association from 2008-2012. From 2005-2011, Smith served as Vice Chairman of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
