We are proud of our long-standing reputation as a champion of diversity. Over the last several years, Boyd Gaming's diversity initiatives have been increasingly proactive, allowing us to become an even more inclusive organization. Diversity has been thoroughly embraced as a core concept of our company’s philosophy and our initiatives continue to evolve as our company grows.
Our key areas of focus include: strengthened hiring and recruiting processes; broadened diversity among management position; more pronounced procurement partnerships; increased local diversity memberships; and enhanced internal communications.
Boyd Gaming took another important step in emphasizing our philosophy of total inclusion of our employees 2007. A new diversity training program was developed in partnership with Hubbard and Hubbard, Inc., giving us another opportunity to show our employees how much we respect and support our company’s diverse cultures.
Sustainability
Protecting our environment and adapting to different ways to do business, in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, is something we take seriously at Boyd Gaming. From our new, environmentally friendly laundry facility, to extensive recycling programs at many of our properties, we are committed to doing what we can to be green.
Community Affairs
Making a positive difference in the lives of the citizens in the communities in which we operate is a commitment that we take to heart at Boyd Gaming Corporation. Giving back generously to improve the quality of life of our fellow residents is one of the core beliefs upon which our company was built. Our founder, Sam Boyd, was responsible for introducing, what later would be known as, the Boys and Girls Clubs and United Way to an emerging Las Vegas community. Both organizations continue to effectively serve the needs of young and old alike and the company's support of their good work is unwavering. In fact, many of our properties outside of Nevada provide support for these groups in their own communities. This is a legacy that we know would make Sam proud.
Giving Guidelines
We budget generously for charitable contributions, and we must carefully allocate these precious resources in order to positively impact the greatest number possible. As such, the following guidelines, which apply to both monetary and in-kind contributions, were established to help focus our resources.
- All charitable requests must:
- Originate from a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
- Be from a state in which the company operates
- We are unable to act favorably on any request:
- For an individual, team or school-sponsored endeavor*
- For programs that discriminate for any reason, including race, color, creed, religion, age, sex or national origin
