Conserving Water

Updated May 2026

We understand water’s importance as a shared resource in our communities, and work continuously to become more efficient in our water consumption.

These efforts begin with simple measures to reduce water consumption at our properties, such as using water-efficient dishwashers and installing water efficient irrigation controls. Several of our properties use water smart irrigation systems which are designed to adjust usage based on weather conditions and have the ability to detect leaks to minimize overwatering. Reviewing water stress and water quality is a high priority at all of our facilities. Additionally, Boyd has implemented flood and sedimentation controls at many of its properties across the Midwest and South to ensure clean waterways and reduced flooding. And in southern Nevada, where water conservation is critical, we have implemented xeriscaping projects and air-cooling technologies to lower our water usage.

Since we began reviewing our water consumption on a companywide basis in 2017, our Company has been able to strategically implement water conservation measures across our company. Some key improvements we made in 2025 include:

  • IP Biloxi replaced its hotel cooling tower, lowering the property’s annual water usage by nearly 18.5 million gallons – a savings of more than 13%.
  • Ameristar Kansas City installed a new property irrigation system, resulting in savings of nearly 4 million gallons per year.
  • Kansas Star also replaced its irrigation system with a more efficient model, achieving annual savings of 2.2 million gallons.

Boyd has reduced our annual water consumption by over 374 million gallons on average over the last eight years, resulting in a cumulative reduction of nearly 3 billion gallons since 2017.

33% downward trend
We’ve reduced our water consumption by almost 33% from our baseline year (2017)
