Talent Development

Updated May 2026

We want our team members to have more than a job at Boyd Gaming – we want to be a company where they can stay and build a career. Through Talent Development, team members can access a wide range of technical, operational, and leadership training programs that build skills, enhance performance, and prepare them for future opportunities.

How We Develop Our Team Members

Talent Recruitment
To further strengthen our talent pipeline, Boyd Gaming is expanding its partnerships with leading universities across the country, including the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Arizona State University; the University of Arizona; and Michigan State University. We are also extending our outreach to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), highlighted by a new partnership with Norfolk State University and its Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management. These institutions are just a sample of the many schools we engage with to connect students to meaningful career opportunities across our organization.

We remain committed to developing initiatives that support the recruitment of veterans from the U.S. Armed Forces. Together, these efforts demonstrate our dedication to broadening our talent pool, fostering inclusion, and welcoming individuals whose diverse experiences and perspectives strengthen our organization.
Annual Performance Reviews
In accordance with company policy, all Boyd Gaming team members—including full-time and part-time, receive a formal annual performance review beginning in their first year of service. These reviews go beyond evaluating job performance and include meaningful discussions around career development, such as progress toward goals and projects, new skills acquired, individual strengths, and opportunities for continued growth. This process supports open dialogue, ongoing development, and alignment between individual aspirations and business objectives.
Career Development Plans
Boyd Gaming encourages team members who are interested in career advancement to actively engage with their supervisor or manager to create a personalized Career Development Plan. Using Boyd’s career plan template, team members can identify their next career step, the training and development needed to prepare for future roles, opportunities to build skills through expanded responsibilities, and access to mentorship from leaders across the company. In addition, team members seeking promotional opportunities are invited to complete an online Talent Profile, enabling Boyd Gaming to formally recognize and support career growth interests across the organization.
Leadership Training
To support team members in achieving their career goals, Boyd Gaming offers a variety of optional leadership development courses designed to build essential people and business skills. These programs focus on key areas such as new manager readiness, team member coaching, effective delegation, engagement, mentoring, time management, change management, and conflict resolution. Demonstrating strong participation and commitment to growth, Boyd team members completed nearly 42,000 hours of voluntary leadership training in 2023—reflecting our ongoing investment in developing confident, capable leaders across the organization.
Higher Education
Boyd Gaming encourages team members, and their children, to pursue continued learning and professional development through higher education. Through the Boyd Advantage workplace benefits program, we offer financial support to help offset education costs, including tuition reimbursement for undergraduate and graduate coursework, student loan reimbursement for eligible team members, and college scholarships for the children of eligible employees.
