Earlier this month, The Nevada Hotel & Lodging Foundation (NHLF) awarded more than $37,000 in scholarships to eight local University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) & The International School of Hospitality students. Alyssa Reyes, Revenue Auditor Specialist at Boyd Gaming Corporate, was one of the lucky recipients to receive $5,000 towards furthering her education.

The Nevada Hotel & Lodging Foundation provides educational and career enrichment certification and training program scholarships. Their goal is to fuel the hospitality industry by providing the opportunity to further education for Nevadans.

Last year, Alyssa graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hospitality Management from UNLV. In an effort to advance in her field, Alyssa decided to pursue her Masters degree with the help of the NHLF. She had followed up with the foundation several times on LinkedIn and decided to sign-up for a scholarship a few months afterward.

After finding out Alyssa was chosen as one of the recipients she said, “The scholarship award means the start to my future, and here at Boyd Gaming I could not ask for better mentors and role models. Both my supervisor and director consistently help me to reach my goals and more than set the standard of being some of the best in the field. I hope to follow in their footsteps and use my degree to further my career at Boyd Gaming within the casino industry.”
