Recently, Diamond Jo Casino team members teamed up with the Dubuque Racing Association (DRA) to beautify multiple areas on Schmitt Island for the annual Dubuque Days of Caring. Hosted by the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce, the annual event is an opportunity for community members to partner with local nonprofit organizations for one-time service projects that make a positive impact on the quality of life in the Dubuque area.

During the event, team members and DRA volunteers split up and picked up trash and debris across the entire island, including around the Dubuque Ice Arena, Veterans Memorial Plaza and the island boat shop, American Marine. In total, volunteers picked up 12 large bags of trash throughout the day.

When asked about what giving back to the community means to him, IT Field Engineer Scott Bennett, expressed gratitude for the chance to lend a hand. “I’m honestly thankful that I get to work somewhere that gives me the opportunity to help with projects like Schmitt Island.”
