Kansas Star Team Members Serve Up Sliders and More at Starkey, Inc's Annual Fundraiser
6/13/2023
In May, Kansas Star Casino team members
volunteered with local non-profit organization, Starkey, Inc. at their "Amber Waves" fundraising benefit. This was Kansas
Star’s second time lending a hand to Starkey, Inc.’s annual wine and beer
walkabout event, located in the Delano Arts District.
Starkey, Inc., founded in 1930, is the oldest community-based
nonprofit in Sedgwick County serving people with disabilities. The
organization’s mission is to nurture development and promote independence of
people with intellectual disabilities through a wide range of business,
employment, residential, life enrichment, and case management programs.
During the annual Amber Waves event, participants had the
opportunity to sample small bites from local vendors, try different beers,
seltzers, cocktails and wines and enjoy live music along the route. One of the
several stops on this year’s route was hosted by Kansas Star team members at
the L’Image Frame Shop where they provided drinks and the popular Kansas Hot
Chicken sliders from Tin Lizard Bar & Grill.
“We are a small but mighty group that enjoys this event every year,” said Chad Armstrong, Senior HR Specialist at Kansas Star. “We had so much fun last year that we needed to come back. It’s a fun event that benefits a good cause.”
In all, more than 300 guests were in attendance and participants voted Kansas Star as Honorable Mention for best food selection.
Thank you, Kansas Star, for continuing
to show up for your local community!
