9/14/2023
Recently, Shreveport-Bossier City area saw storms that knocked out electricity to over 191,000 residents and caused significant damage throughout the area. Following the devasting storms, Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino, Shreveport stepped up to help Northwest Louisiana Food Bank tackle hunger for those in-need during these trying times.
Sam’s Town Shreveport is a proud supporter of the Food Bank. Together they help
to fight hunger through volunteerism and packing food for those throughout the
community. Following the storms, team members spent several hours bagging and
boxing food for seven parishes in the area as many were left without food, but
also power for nearly a week. In addition, the casino-resort donated $5,000 to
the Food Bank, which equated to $50,000 in food value.
Sharon Robinson, Boyd Rewards Marketing Supervisor, said, “When I volunteer it takes my focus to someone other than myself. It gives meaning and purpose, while also increasing my self-esteem and wellbeing. I believe I make a positive impact on my community when I volunteer at Northwest Louisiana Food Bank.”
With Sam’s Town Shreveport’s help, Northwest Louisiana Food Bank will be able to provide enough food for 20,000 meals! Thank you, team members, for making a difference in the lives of many.
