Boyd Gaming's Louisiana Properties Contribute $90,000 to Various Local Nonprofits
1/3/2024
To conclude 2023, Sam’s Town Shreveport, Delta Downs, Evangeline Downs, Treasure Chest Casino and Amelia Belle Casino came
together to support non-profit organizations across the Louisiana community as
part of Boyd Gaming’s commitment to giving back.
In September, Sam’s Town Shreveport announced a $10,000 donation to the Salvation Army’s Boys and Girls Club of Shreveport. Since 1904, the longstanding Club has offered year-round programming in Shreveport-Bossier City for children ages 6-18. Its diverse activities encompass the arts, health, recreation, education and life skills. Furthermore, the giving does not stop there as Salvation Army’s Boys and Girls Club is also participating in Sam’s Town Shreveport’s annual Wreaths of Hope holiday competition, which aims to support non-profit organizations in the community through decorated wreaths and citywide voting.
Later in November, Delta Downs had the pleasure of
presenting a $25,000 donation and volunteering at Sleep in Heavenly Peace in
Sulphur, Louisiana. The non-profit originally started with the building of one
bed for a single family has developed into an organization that builds, assembles
and delivers top-notch beds to hundreds of children and families in-need each
year. With the goal in mind that every child needs a bed, Sleep in Heavenly
Peace has stepped up and continues to build and deliver beds to the community.
Over time, the organization plans to open more chapters in different states to
serve more people than ever.
Additionally, Evangeline Downs donated $15,000 to Court
Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of St. Landry-Evangeline, in an effort to
continue advocating for the best interests of abused and neglected children in
the foster care system. Volunteers work closely with children, their families,
social workers, attorneys and other professionals to be the voice for children
and help them thrive in a safe and loving family. With the generous support
from team members at Evangeline Downs, CASA was able to build a new facility
and make the necessary revisions through donated materials and with the help of
volunteers.
Furthermore, Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner, Louisiana selected Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Louisiana to donate to at the end of the year. The organization’s mission is to provide a home-away-from-home for families with seriously ill or injured children while they are receiving treatment. Ronald McDonald House accepted $30,000 on behalf of the casino to support their mission in the new year.
To wrap up charitable giving for the year, Amelia Belle
Casino helped to serve victims of domestic violence in the southern region
parishes of Louisiana at Chez Hope. The organization received a generous
$10,000 donation to help in purchasing a new vehicle for their mobile unit,
enhancing their ability to deliver vital services to families they support.
All in all, Boyd Gaming looks to enhance the quality of life
in our communities through contributions and team member volunteerism. In just
two years, Boyd Gaming donated $45 million to non-profit organizations
nationwide.
