Boyd Gaming is Committed to Giving Back
1/9/2023
In September, the Atlantic was hit with a large, powerful
and destructive Category 4 hurricane which impacted portions of the Caribbean
and Eastern Canada. On record, Hurricane Fiona was the costliest and most
intense cyclone to hit Canada leaving families and individuals without shelter,
food and water.
In
keeping with Boyd Gaming’s mission of supporting its communities, the company
recently announced a $25,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross. This donation
comes after Boyd's entry into the Canadian market with its acquisition of Pala
Interactive, a leading online gaming company. With this donation, Boyd is
proud to demonstrate its ongoing commitment to giving back to others and making
our communities stronger.
“With this donation, Boyd Gaming hopes to assist the
Atlantic Canada community recover from the damages caused by Hurricane Fiona,”
said Jim Ryan, CEO of Pala Interactive.
As many families and communities continue to face the devastating impacts of torrential rain, strong winds and widespread flooding, the Canadian Red Cross has been working closely with local community leaders to support recovery, resiliency and risk reduction efforts in the difficult weeks and months to come. Since the destruction, the Canadian Red Cross has:
· Distributed over $32 million in financial assistance to more than 68,000 eligible families, either on behalf of provincial governments or Red Cross financial assistance for eligible families in some of the most impacted areas
· Provided emergency shelter to 1,2000 individuals
· Distributed over 5,7000 emergency items to people most in need, such as hygiene kits, cots and blankets
With Boyd’s support, the Canadian Red Cross will be able to deliver life-saving aid to those who need it most. For more information on both monetary and in-kind contributions, please visit boydgaming.com/company/environmental-social-governance.
